POST REVISED SINCE 08/11/08 for additional movies suggested
Everyone had such great thoughts on movies they loved and found comforting/relaxing/fun to while away time to, that I figured rather than responding in the comments section, I should simply compile a list of suggested movies, along w/ the number of people who love them :D You can find out who loves which by going here.
Jab We Met has now tied with Chupke Chupke- I still skeptically wonder if I did another poll like this 10 years from now, would JWM stand the test of time? It may, what with the charismatic cast..... The fact that we all still love CHupke Chupke is but a testimoney to the brilliance of Hrishikesh Mukherjee, his brilliant castings, everyman scripts and the resulting clean, consise product.
Here is the list of movies suggested by everyone, along with the # of votes each got. In retrospect, there are so many of these that you've suggested that I wish were on my original list- Andaz Apna Apna, DDLJ, Chalbaaz, Jugnu.... ah well :)

Shweta,
Thanks for the user-friendly list and graph! I'm also surprised by Jab We Met being the "winner"---It's a great film, but like you said, will we be so enthusiastic about it years from now? I mean, look at "DDLJ"--I wasn't a Bollywood watcher at the time this came out, but with all the material I've read, and with what my family has told me, I can imagine it was a bigger hit than "JWM" and still is ranking quite low on the list. It is also one of the least viewed review on my blog and has 0 comments, I think.
Anyways, I have Andaz Apna Apna, but know next to nothing about it(my stepmother just gave it to me), so haven't watched it yet. Now I can't wait!
Nida: haha- the graph is a testimoney to my nerdiness- but I do like pictures :) That is so true about DDLJ- though it was and remains a wonderful movie. I KNOW you will love Andaz Apna Apna- it is just so nonsensically adorable- I'm still kicking myself for not suggesting the name :)
Wow about Jab We Met. Maybe it's still "fresh" that made people feel like that? Like I've said before, maybe not to you, but I've been telling others. If you really like Jab We Met, you have to watch more Korean romantic comedies.
I love AAA. Dang, I have to rewatch it!
Shewta: Thank *you* for putting together the list! It's full of exciting stuff! :)
Nicki: I'm not crazy about JWM- but AAA is definitely rewatchable many many times (for me) :D
Bollywoodfan: [gwash thnx]
DDLJ, might not be famous among the netizens but I know hoards of people in real life who'd never exclude it from their list ;) If Shahid goes on to be a megastar like SRK is, JWM will be talked about for a long time!
Andaz Apna Apna is fantastic! It's my favourite kind of humour. Can't believe I forgot it, lol :P I'm glad I'm not the only one who bows down to the awesomeness of Chaalbaaz(& Sridevi ♥)
I thought about another Mac & Cheese movie I loved growing up - Disco Dancer
Arantxa: I do love all your movie choices girl- its sad we've never spent enough time together- but if we get a chance to do so in the future, I can see some marathon movie watching happeneing :D
Nicki: Ahh Disco Dancer..somehow much as I love it, I cant relax to the hilarious musical angst (omg- that may be a new sub genre- never named so before- "hilarious musical angst"...:D)
