You totally have to read this article in Slate, where the gora writer did a day as a Bollywood extra for Priyadarshan's forthcoming "De Dhana Dan" .
Fun! I totally want to see the movie and spot him in it :D too bad have to wait till the end of the year :S

LOL! How fun! :-P Not as glamorous as I thought it would be.
I thought the last thing he said in the video was quite condescending.

AHAHAHAH!!! I do love the extra in Bollywood stories. I want Maia to be my friend. I would take her to watch Bollywood movies and just listen to her talk. I might even buy her a giant tub of popcorn.
A friend of mine just sent me the same great link. Glad you posted it. I'm just back from my trip to India, and though it was fantastic in every way, I missed an opportunity like this one described in the article. Next time I'll travel in Mumbai and pimp myself on the street and get into film city, and eventually a film!
All the best!

p.s. Ditto to Amrita on wanting Maia as a friend. I love her demands for "Mirror!"
I saw this yesterday and howled. I loved how pissed off they all were by the end of the day! (well, by the middle of the day for the two aussies :-)
Anonymous: Poor man- he was probably really beat by the end of the day, so perhaps that got him a bit off-mood :D
Amrita- She was SO hilarious! I would like to know her personal incentive for doing this honestly :)
Bollywoodfoodclub: Oh I am so glad u had a good trip- waiting to read about it soon :D When u do star in a movie- ur write-up will be very different from this guy's view I am sure- ;)
Memsaab: Hilarious, wasnt it?! There could be a indie movie made just on their experiences (hello, is Bollywood listening??)
That was hilarious! I never thought about how they got the "white" extras but it never occurred to me that they were picking tourists near Leopold's Cafe!!!! And the last thing he said in the video struck me as rather racist - as if he was trying to project his own feelings on to the Indians who were making him "miserable". I bet the film people are a lot ruder with their Indian extras and are probably being very nice (at least according to themselves) to the foreigners!
Bollyviewer: A lot of what he says can be construed as offensive. He isnt a Bollywood fan- this is more of a curious tourist, just visiting, having no clue of anything about Bollywood- so he is probably completely clueless - :)
That was soooo funny! I didn't think it was offensive, so much as completely WTF? It pretty much paralleled my first experience with Bollywood, and I wasn't even involved in the film. LOL
