Abhay in Bolly"Emma"???

The news that Sonam Kapoor will star in the Bollywoodized Emma has been doing the rounds for awhile. I think she will be a stunning Emma, and am really looking forward to the movie, but I cant visualize Abhay as Mr. Knightley at all- I've always found Mr. Knightley - dare I say- the dullest of the Austen-ian heroes. I hope that I will be proved really wrong :)

Also want to share this interview with Manjot, who played the young Lucky in "Oye Lucky Lucky Oye"- he sounds very sweet.

I like Knightley and would love to see what Bollywood does with Emma :)

Maybe Abhay will be Frank Churchill. And it would be great if they could cast Ranvir Shorey as Mr.Elton and Mr.Knightley will be Abhishek :)

Eliza, I think Abhay as Frank and Shorey as Elton would both be great castings! And Abhishek as Knightly may just be the best option- it would be so great if we could get your thoughts accross to the directors of this movie!

I'm looking forward to this. Maybe Sonam will make it possible for me to like Emma for once... :)

Memsaab- she is so luminous, I agree a fun Emma may be forthcoming :D

I agree on Mr. Knightly... *snooze*

Plus, I always found it vaguely creepy that he knew her as a little girl. I much prefer the Clueless version of Emma!

I hope the Bollyversion is closer to that. :)

Filmigirl: You make me want to see Clueless again- that, and reading the book are my fav Emma versions. The age of the characters (Abhay does not look close to a college boy in clueless, and ive no idea about the other 2, tho Sonam would look fine) makes me think it cant be literally clueless, but maybe its folks in an office- or there could be other alternate scenarios...fun!

C'mon people, of course no one can compete with Mr.Darcy :) but Mr.Knightley is not that bad as Henry Tilney. I know NA is more about making fun than her other books but still, he is my least favorite Austen male lead and then comes Edmund, a character that is not appealing to me at all.

Mr.Knightley should be older than Emma (he was also older in the film Clueless and the age difference was mentioned). Jeremy Northam made a lovely Mr.Knightley (but the film is not a fave of mine although I love the novel)

Oh Mr Darcy- Now I'd really like a version of Pride and Prejudice being made. Dont hate me :D, but I honestly couldnt fathom "Bride and Prejudice" at all.

Mr. Knightley- I'm trying to imagine a older man w/ Sonam other than Salman (who I love but who I dont beleive couldnt play this one) wonder if Ajay Devgan, with hair colored back to their shade wouldnt make a decent Knightley- or Saif- they can both be really subtle.

Ooo! I like the idea of Ajay as a older and curmudgeonly Mr. Knightly!!

And I'm with you on B&P. I'd love to see a better Bollyversion of that. :)

Hey, if Devdas can turn into Dev D, you may have some hope for Mr. Knightley.

Judge the abovem. statement on the basis that I have heard of Jane Austen and have no more knowledge about her.

FilmiGirl: heeh- lets hope some directer reads this conversation and learns our need for a new and improved B&P :D

Amey: Such an honest admission- clappings to you for that! But you are right- in an Indian scenario and with enough poetic lisence, the script could be hugely different.
